I've been spending a lot more time with the cat and dog individually, petting, brushing, playing with them and talked to them about dad's death wheither they understand it or not. Anybody else go through this? If so, what did you do?

that is so sad. i am so sorry. animals may not seem so smart, but they are, and need to grieve just like us. give them all of the love you have, and keep up the good work, they should come around.

What you are doing is really great--yes animals mourn for people they loved even sometimes refusing to eat. Keep up the good work!!

my dog got sad when my dad left on buisness one time, we gave him one of his dirty shirts to sleep on and it helped him. try giving them sone of your dads old work shirts that still kinda smell like him, it might help them feel better.
