Okay so everyone is sketchy on this topic and I want to hear your opinions on abortion. I'm a guy, and have gone to Catholic school for the past 12 years, with the last 2 years practically destroying my faith with the deep tangled web of Christian morality. I find that that some of the stuff I was taught contradicted itself, or was completely out right intolerable. One story about how a Catholic church in Boston dumped orphans out of there orphanage after the city declared that gays have the right to adopt (if anyone has the full story I'd like to read it for myself). This was almost praised in my school by my religion teacher. But anyway, getting off topic I just wanted to prove that religion isn't really affecting my decision, I'm still against abortion. I knew a vegan who proclaimed he wouldn't kill even a sea urchin for food, claiming it had a central nervous system, but had no qualms about a partial birth abortion. I'm sick of people undermining human life.

I too agree that if a woman under 18 is raped or has incestual sex that abortion can be a solution. But those of you who claim that its your body and your choice, or that the state shouldn't butt into there lives are forgetting that murder is something for the state to butt into. Abortion is the taking of a life, plain and simple. And if you fire back with the classic "well if you where to take it out of me it would die on its own, so obviously its a part of me and therefore mine to erase" yes it would. And so would an infant that has already been born. If you don't care for a fetus or a child its going to die. And anyway its been proven that a fetus that has been removed before birth is capable of surviving, and continues to form on its own. All your doing Miss. "I can cut it out if I want to" is giving it nourishment. It grows like a infant grows, like a child grows, like a teenager grows.

It's the womens body and therefore her choice. Who are you to tell someone they should have the kid? I have a friend that was pregnant at 14 and she got an abortion. I'm glad because that baby would have been through hell. She smokes and could not be responsible as a parent in the least. Most people would not want to live with the consequences of unprotected sex. Everyone should have protected sex even if your on the pill or not because of all the stds. I think its stupid. But I also have a friend that has a kid and is 17 and is an amazing mother. It really depends on the mother. You really need to look up the court case Row vs Wayde. Abortion is a womens right and who are you to judge someone else for their decision????

First off, I would like to say I'm sorry that you're struggling with your faith. I had that problem when I was younger (I have been Christian, Catholic and even gone to Buddist temples). In the end I believed that if I even if I didn't believe in one almightly god he wouldn't smite me if I chose to live a good life and not go to church/temples whenever.

I'm pro-choice. I believe that a woman has a right to abortion whatever the circumstances. Be it, product of incest, rape, deformed or just an inconvience in the mother's life.. if she wants it she can have it. I understand that it can be distressing having an adoption (who knows if the parents to be will take good care of your child and what it will grow up to be, not to mention the child coming back and finding you after all those years).

If she doesn't want an abortion that is also up to her. I don't believe men have a say in the child's life until it is born (re the recent murder of a women and her baby that was due in July in Ohio). And yes, I am female.

PS I don't mind which way you or anyone swings as long as you don't loiter outside abortion clinics screaming "murderer" to women who go inside. That is insensitive and intolerable.

im not sketchy. if it isnt my body then its none of my business. my personal medical decisions are mine and no one elses'. The same goes for anyone. Also, once the child has been born, it is possible for someone else to care for it, therefore the argument that location doesnt matter is fallacious. As to the question of what defines a person, well, that is philosophy for the most part and there is no such thing as "proven" and "absolutely true" philosophy. Every philosophical theory has holes in it.

Fine, you can be against abortion as long as you don't try and stop someone else from having one! That is not your decision to make and your nose doesn't belong in it! Moreover, no one made you God!

Why do you want to butt into other peoples lives regarding abortion ? You think the use of the state is great if they interfere in that area but when I come knocking on your door to investigate child abuse your ilk have a whole different opinion of whether the state has any right to investigate you!

They do by the way!

Although many people do, I see no need to involve religion in abortion. It's a simple human rights issue. Children have a right to life regardless of the circumstances that led to their conception. Children conceived in rape should be given up for adoption if the mother can't handle raising the child. It's just not fair to punish children for their father's crimes. Who looks at a child and thinks of rape? When you see a child you usually think of how cute it is or what it needs.

The only abortion exception that I think is justified is to save the life of the mother--and one should double-check any doctor's recommendation to abort. They often err on the side of abortion even if the risk of problems are slight. Why? Because they don't want to be sued.

If parents don't want their children, why not put them up for adoption? Even a tough childhood is better than no chance at life at all. How can anyone think that death is a better option for their child than adoption?! Whose interests are being considered?

There are thousands of free pregnancy resource centers across the country to help pregnant women. These centers provide diapers, clothes, food, money, health care referrals, pregnancy tests, shelter, counseling, adoption information, etc. Check out http://www.NationalLifeCenter.com or call 1-800-848-5683.

There's no reason to ever use "Planned Parenthood." They have a one-size-fits-all approach to pregnancy: abortion. Why? Because it brings in so much revenue. They are the nation's largest abortion provider and perform over 260,000 abortions a year in this country alone. In their latest report Planned Parenthood showed a profit of over $50 million, and they did not report ONE adoption. Why would they? There's certainly no money to be made there.

Furthermore, don't even trust "Planned Parenthood" condoms. They have some of the worst failure rates of any available. Check out the rating of PP condoms at Consumer Reports. Of course, it should be noted that lousy condoms do lead to more pregnancies and likely more abortions. Coincidence or not?

If you oppose abortion, write your representatives and demand that they stop wasting your tax dollars supporting "Planned Parenthood", a thriving abortion operation. FYI "Planned Parenthood" receives about $300 million in tax money.

I have mixed feelings about abortion. For me its not an opion if i could get pregnant there is no way in hell i would have an abortion. But for a child or teenager under the age of 18 was rapped and got pregnant then i think it would be okay because they have to live with being rapped for the rest of there life and having to cary a baby for nine month because of being rapped would just be another reminder of the rape and teenagers have enough emotional problems with out adding that. And for adult females who have abortion on the most part i beleive it is there choice the first time but for those who have more then one abortion because they can't keep their legs together then they need to have them sewed shot. I would give anything for a child if you don't want it I will take it.

I too feel that Abortion is just an excuse for ones sinful nature! I have heard the rape stories, and the ten page reports and NOTHING absolutely NOTHING can Justify taking the Life of another human being and more than that someone who cannot speak for it's self.....I really fear the Wrath of an Almighty God upon those people who killed and destroyed a human life with no thought what so ever of what they were doing....The ONLY good thing is that the baby is with an Almighty and Everlasting God, however the person who committed the Murder which they should be tried for, will most likely never make it to Heaven to see what they destroyed....Some people who have had abortions are later sorry for it and ask the Lords forgiveness, they will have a chance, but How Sad.....

I don't believe in abortion for the simple fact that we should protect our children at all cost especially the ones who haven't been born yet.
For a woman to want to murder her unborn child simply because he or she is an inconvenience is the worse thing in my opinion that anyone could ever do.
I don't even think it is justified if the baby is a result of rape.I think the woman should have the child then put him or her up for adoption if she still no longer wants it.
Everyone has a right to be protected and defended especially infants who are the most helpless of us all.
I believe life begins at the moment of conception and that life is conceived with a spirit and soul intact and no one has the right to kill it especially the childs own mother.
If women do not want to get pregnant they can either abstain from having sex or use birth control.
There isn't any reason a woman should have to get pregnant these days with so many different types of birth control available to them along with sterilization.
And to use the excuse "I am in control of what happens to my own body so I have a right to have an abortion" is a really lame excuse.
Because what about the babies body?Isn't the babies body important too?Doesn't the baby count too?
A baby would never in a million years hurt his or her mother let alone kill her so why do so many women do that to their babies?
And as for your Catholic upbringing I was brought up Catholic as well and decided to do away with religion when I became an adult and just follow God without it.
Religion is not necessary in order to have a relationship with God and in most cases the religion will want you to worship it and make it more important than God himself.
I have a very close and personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and I don't believe in religion of any kind.
I read my bible and study is word and include him in everything that I do.
And I do this the way God wants me to and not man.

intact d&x abortions make up a small percentage of abortions. they're not elective. the majority of abortions occur in the first trimester and are done via vacuum aspiration.

Not sure that this is a question but more rather a statement, however in response to your statement it is clear to me that from the moment egg meets sperm that every thing that is needed to be a complete person including personality is in place from the on set. therefor it is already a human being.Abortion when a woman's life is threatened is the only scenario i accept and that is mighty big of me as i am a man.But the psychological effects of rape on a some women may lead them into depression that threatens their life also so that has to be considered but not as an excuse. In this day and age of morning after pills and contraceptives it is even more obscene to me that the practice is still used so widely.
