I've posted a similar version of this question but would like to add some details. My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex - two day later she began to bleed heavy and the period lasted for 9 days - she was later diganoised with a tyroid condition which the Dr says could make her period irregular until the thyroid get straighten out. She also took (2) HPT's and both were negative.( after period) It's been almost a month since her period and she hasn't had another - Two question (1) is all bleeding like in this case considered a period? and do you think she could still be pregnant?

I'm not sure that was a period....9 days....that's a long time...periods may last 5-6 days at the most, but every woman is different! In my opinion (not expert)...I would say she isn't pregnant....only because you don't bleed like that when you are pregnant after 2 days of unprotected sex...it's possible, but I have 3 kids!!!!! The doc already said it was a tyroid condition so I would attribute the 9 days to that. I'm not going to sit here and say you shouldn't have unprotected sex because I have 3 kids of my own, but don't worry about her being pregnant I would say, but she defintely needs to see about possible other conditions with another doc. (2nd opinion).

It is doubtful that she is pregnant but if she goes 5 weeks without one you should do a home pregnancy test. If she test negative and doesn't get it for another week test again. If that test is negative then make an appointment with her doctor for a blood test to know for sure.

Good luck!
