Almost everyone has some kind of accreditation, but Kaplan is really not accredited by the organizations that count. You won't be able to transfer the classes to universities which require that classes be offered by accredited schools.

Look for information about the accreditation on the website. All schools should be able to give you this information. Be careful going to links through the school's website because some schools actually go through the trouble of creating fake accreditation sites. Also, the school should have legitimate contact information (i.e. a phone number and address) and you should be able to speak to a person because all institutions should have a main office somewhere. Ask them personally about it. If you are really concerned, contact the accrediting agency that the school claims to be affiliated with and ask about the school's credentials.

Yes, on-line higher education is still pretty new, but the new wave for those that have to work and raise families, like me. I am a student at, Ashworh university and love it. With this plan, you can make a down payment then monthly payments until your done. The only catch is you can not graduate until the program you choose is paid off. This university has many programs, you ought to check out your options before you choose. This is a big decision, take your time and it will work out.

To expand, "those that count" are those organizations that are recognized by the US Department of Education as accredited for issuing degrees. If you have any questions about the accreditation, you can contact the USDoE in Washington, or your State's Department of Education for more information about them.
