It seems our govt. here in the US is incompetent. From our income taxes going to the federal reserve to pay off interest for the debt the govt. spent all the way to illegal immigration. It seems like politics today in the US is not about what the people want but what the politicans want according to their views or what works out best for them. Our politicians like Clinton and Kerry who claim to be part of the "party for the people" are both very wealthy and went to elite schools. How can people who grew up rich know what it is like to be poor. The republicans come straight out and tell us which team they are playing for like when bush told a group of oil company CEO's they were his base at a fundraiser. Our democracy isn't about who works for the people and has the best idea for society but who has the most money and who is the best liar. I was once a republican but now i just sit back and wonder how long until things really start to get bad. What do you guys think.

Although Bill Clinton is rich now, he grew up decidly middle class in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He went to elite schools because he had the intellect to get in. He paid his way through scholarships and loans. That point aside, the US has become its worst capitalist nightmare that Karl Marx warned about. It IS all about the money, those who have it and who intend to hold onto it. Money is Power and we are living in a very jaded era similar to the gilded age when the robber barons ruled the US much like the oil and banking industry is ruling us now. So until some of these dynamics change and their again is a power shift in favor of the people, life is going to continue to erode for the middle class in this country.

Clinton wasn't born rich...he actually grew up in relative poverty. Still, you're absolutely correct. Once politicians are elected, they forget that they're supposed to be public servants. They forget that they are supposed to serve 'the people' - NOT the special interests, not the wealthy elite, not the big corporations, and not the military-industrial complex. As Americans, we have a Constitutional right to 'keep and bears arms' against a tyrannical and oppressive government.
Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Unfortunately, that time is way past due. -RKO- 06/30/07

I'm not going to go as deep as you did, but I can say I agree that "most" politicians go for their views only and not "the people". I would have to disagree with you when you say that individuals who are wealthy and go to elite schools have no idea what it is like to be poor. Just because you are fortunate doesn't mean you don't understand how the disfortunate lives and it doesn't mean you don't or can't stand up for the disfortunate. -- I agree with the other posts...you mean Hillary or Bill Clinton...if you are talking about Bill...yeah you need your facts straight..
**** you just added that you mentioned Hillary Clinton not Bill Clinton....well Hillary has known Bill for the most of her life...I would think that she had interests for what his desires were for society in order to be with him...You could've mentioned someone else besides her....I don't really think your views apply to her as well as Bill Clinton

you seem not to understand that the gov't of the U.S. was not put together by the common man. it was created by lawyers and wealthy land owners of the time. we the people does not mean the same thing to the wealthy as to the rest of the people. government in any form is created as a control device. what better way to control than to make people believe they have free will and choice? in a large society a form of gov't is necessary but the people must be involved in it. alas, the people of the U.S. have given up that involvement because it is easier to let someone else make the day to day decisions. when people are not involved in their gov't what do you think is going to happen? quite complaining and get involved.

Clinton did not grow up rich. There are other politicians that grew up with nothing.
Nothing wrong in making yourself wealthy.
The problem is the corruption in Washington with the lobbyists. The smell of easy money is hard to resist. To hell with the people!
Bush was born with a silver spoon up his @$$. He has no concept of what it is like to work for a living.

It goes back from to the beginning. American Government as always put what is best for the elite few ahead of what is best for the country as a whole.
