It depends on how big the store your going to and how many bookstores there are around where you live. If you have a reserve ticket though, that means you can show up at any time and they have your book waiting for you. They have to have at least one book for every reserve ticket sold.

If the store you pre-ordered from is having a midnight release party, arrive at the party before midnight. The store should announce when it is getting ready for the release, so then you can get in line. If you want to be sure to be one of the first, ask where the books will be picked up (likely by the register but could be anywhere) and then five or ten minutes before midnight get in line. This might even make you the first in line depending on when they announce their getting ready to release the book.

I've gone and stood in line every potter book that comes out. here;s some advice. stay away from "Barnes & Noble" There is always thousands of people there. I went there last book and didn't get my book till around 4:30am. Reserve it at a smaller book store or a 24hour walmart. I went to these places everytime but last time, and got it right away. not even close to the same amount of people at smaller stores or walmarts than the "Barnes & Nobles"

Knight 1192a is right a lot of book stores have a midnight release the last two I went to, when we got to the party around 7 or 8 o'clock, we showed our reserve slip and were given a number, then when it was time to sell the books they called us up by numbers, it was quite efficient and the clerks were fast.
that was at a Borders. I now work for Barnes and Nobel, and we are planning a midnight party.

You should go to a release party where everyone who comes reserves a ticket which guarantees a book so it doesn't matter when you get in line. Plus, there's cool stuff to do at the parties!

You should go to a 24 hour Walmart around 10:30 or 11 pm.

For the last 2 releases, I worked at bookstores (one at Borders and one at Barnes &Noble.) If you "Pre-buy" from either of these two stores, they *will* have a book for you. For both of those times, each stores' first shipment was enough to cover all the pre-sales, but few more. If you can't make it to the midnight sale... be at the store at opening time later that morning.

If you order then online with a credit card, then go to the theater, all you have to do is swipe that card and *snap* you're ready. It's a lot quicker and easier than going early and waiting in line. Check online to see when you can purchase them, and do it as soon as you can.

I'm super excited!
