Geez, your dad LIKES having rodents in his house?!

They are al nocturnal creatures. Meaning they are in the house sleeping during the sunlight hours, and are out at night foraging for food. The key is to wait for them to get out at night, then board up the holes.

If you have a creature inside your home, yoru local Animal Control will come get it at no cost... Also, if you see either rodent during the day, it could be rabid, and is a public health risk, so call Animal Control for that, too. Those AC guys live to trap wild animals... call them and let them do their job. No cost to you... they are supported by tax dollars.

Your dad seems to be thinking like an idiot! The WILD animals are destroying your house. They have been crapping in your attic all this time and have chewed holes to be able to move freely. Raccoons can carry rabies. Make an anonymous call to the health department.

I had raccoons in my attic. (And NO....Animal Control will NOT come get them for free...or at all! They are in your house so they can't! Duh! What the heck are they for then!) And try not to be too mad at your dad. They are very expensive to get out by exterminators. I couldn't afford it either! But, what I did, was I put a sterio speaker in the attic with loud hard rock playing to run them out. They did not like it. And, it wasn't too bad in the house. You really couldn't hardly hear it. Well, downstairs anyways. The only thing though, you could if you came to my front door. LOL! But it shoo'ed them away after a few days. I had to give the mama time to get all of her babies. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Call your local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and ask if they can give you a name of a local Trappers Association. They have people locally that will come out and trap them for nothing. I would also Board up the holes in the roof. This isn't good for your home either, the water damage (from rain)will eventually make your roof so weak it will collapse.

Your dad will be awfully sorry if he doesn*t call animal contraol as racoons are rabies carriers of the worst kind. Secondly they are very heavy breeders and before long the racoons will force you out just by all the noise ; feces and urine problems they will cause. They will chew up wiring etc and cause problems that way. I would call your local dept of conservation and ask for help. they loan traps here in Mo. If none of this helps I can tall you personally how we got rid of racoons. E mail me at we2deebees@yahoo.com and put Racoons in the subject line, because I delete unknown mailers.

Chlorine pucks or pure amonia in the attic will get them out. then you gotta go and clean out where they made their toilet and disinfect it so there is no scent left . Then block all the holes they made to get in. It could take a few days for them to leave. Good luck. Took me 2 weeks to get rid of the mother. The rest followed. Try sardines in the traps, or cheetos.

My mother had the same problem in her shed. I bought the item listed at the website below and it's very effective. She doesn't have problems with stray cats or any types of critters anymore.

This same item may be purchased at Dr. Leonard's for a far cheaper price. If you need it immediately, you may also purchase it from any lawn and garden's store.

Good luck!!

place several pans with a nice helping of good old cheap moth balls from your neighborhood market. the smell will go up and out the end gables and so will the pest.
