They start with a full dough ball and roll it out and pat it down into a pattie..
then ummm they stick their .... ummmm well you know..... uhhhh they stick their
donut hole maker into it

I don't know if there is a specific tool for this, but I use a cookie cutter for the doughnut and a smaller cookie cutter for the hole.
At one point I had a machine that made the doughnuts for me. All I had to do was put in the batter and add a little oil to the machine.
Who knows? Every chef maybe different.

I imagine that in the middle of the night a group of angry elves loads a skeet shooter with fresh baked donuts and an even angrier elf with stellar marksmanship yells pull and they launch the dough nuts in to the air whilst the marksman targets them and little bird dog fairies go and retrieve them for the mornings breakfast..........or maybe its more far fetched like a dough nut cutter....

he actually nibbles at all the centers and makes the holes..You know them donuts be smellin too good for him to resist.

You have a round tool that does it and you can even buy them at wal mart.. I always thought he put something else through it but I was wrong
