There were a lot of barn dances back then. They also went on hay rides. The kids played games like hide and seek. Most people actually enjoyed some of the work on the farms. It's not so bad when the whole family works and plays together.

something almost unknown today--- they talked to eachother. they also danced and sang and went to bed early and got up with the sun. life then was otherwise about the same as now, work, sleep and interact as needed.100 years ago was 1907. America was on the move then an up and growing country. America was not the keeper of the world then. nor should we be today. there is not enough space to properly discuss this here.

Tell Stories, Sing, Play instruments, Play games outside. Mostly, they had less entertainment time because work was more labor intensive (not the 9 to 5 we have today)

there were a lot of exciting inventions that occured approx 100 years ago. Radio, phonograph , light bulb, movie cinemas, automobile, telephone, telegraph, airplane, electricity for more and more houses.
I think that it was relatively exciting for these people because all of this was brand new. In fact, i would venture to guess that these inventions were more revolutionary than cell phones, CDs and the internet, because in such a short time, people went from horse and buggy and nothing else, to all of those things i listed, almost over night.

School aged kids played with marbles, people played word guessing games, rode horses, played "fox and goose" sledding in winter, skating, hunting. Lots of the things we think are work were things they did for enjoyment. Sewing, quilting, barn raisings, sleigh rides, are some.
Presents were homemade and part of the fun was to get them done without the recipient seeing it before the event.
It was much more family oriented fun as people didn't travel to the extent they do now.

Well, i'll be 102 in just a few weeks, and as i recall the most fun we had, since we didn't have any of that newfangled communist stuff like electricity and so forth, was pulling wings off of moths, and peeing in our beds.
Also, those of us who were republican really enjoyed watching social darwinism in action--you know, poor people starving because of their deficiencies, and rich people having a great time eating more, suffering from flatulence disorders, and feeling generally superior to everyone because of their nouveau riche status. Great times!! Not as much fun as NASCAR, of course :))

It depended on your social class. There were MAJOR differences in what the wealthy did, and what the poor did. The poor didn't do much but work. The wealthy did just about everything but work. There were plays, concerts, operas, balls, parties, etc. - all sorts of social things. They did lots of social stuff.
