CLR is a good cleaner, and you should use it because it is so effective. However, the only real way to keep it clean is to buy a little squeegee that you can hang on your shower rod. Every time you get out of the shower, it only takes a few seconds to squeege it off. Then you wont have to worry about it so much...

To cut soap scum and shine up the glass use equal parts white vinegar and very warm water and apply to the glass. Use a soft plastic scrubbing pad and with little to no effort at all the soap scum comes off.

Just unscrew the stupid thing from the walls, scrape up the caulk w/ a razor blade, and hang a pretty shower curtain! That's what we've done before... no more water sitting in the little railing thing, getting all skungy..... :-)

Try CLR or Lime Away to remove calcium and lime deposits. It's that stuff that holds onto the soap and other dirt on the glass.
