I also have a 8 month old and she just graduated to size 3 diapers. You might want to switch to size 3 too, they have more padding and will absorb more liquid. During the day I use Huggies and for the night I use Pampers Swaddlers which work great at absorbing all the things she does at night. I don’t like to use Swaddlers during the day because it is too hot during the day and she always gets a rash because of it. Huggies are more breathable.

Pampers by far are the best diaper.
Don't buy the store cheapies they dont work very well, but they are ok if your in a $$ pinch.
For extra measure, you can buy plastic pants that go over the diaper
But I'd also like to ask you how are you dipering the baby,
Are the diapers on SNUG and are they the CORRECT size?
If you don't have the tabs pulled across far enough then the diaper is too loose and will leak, If the diaper is too big it will also leak.
And are you changing the baby often enough, diapers can only handle so much, if the diaper is sagging after a couple of hours, then your not changing the baby often enough. and that can lead to diaper rash.

My son used the Parents Choice diapers from Wal-Mart or the Smiles diapers from Sams. They are half the price and worked perfectly for him.
Be sure that you have the right size though. Too small, and they won't hold enough. Too big, and they will gap and leak.
We did start having problems with leaking overnight when he was about 7 months old, so we invested in Huggies Overnights (they are the only brand of overnights that I could find). They are more pricey that his regular diapers, but worth every penny to not have a crying, wet baby in the middle of the night. Also, I have saved so much money by not having to wash two sheets, two blankets, and two pairs of pajamas because of the leakage.
I think different diapers work for different babies. Just experiment with the smallest pack of a different brand. That way, if they leak too, you haven't wasted much money.
Good luck.

Sometimes reading these questions I feel like I should make a recording.
The best thing for any baby at any age is cloth, cloth, cloth ,cloth, not disposables.
Disposables are hot and sticky and don't breathe and have a tendancy to leak like a seive. Because of being hot and sticky they become very uncomfortable especially if they are left on for too long and not enough "off" time when being changed.
Why are they left on too long? One of disposables best features is also one of it biggest drawbacks. Disposables wick moisture away from the baby very well but because of that the baby doesn't generally get changed as often as it should therefore the baby develops diaper rashes, which are few to none with cloth diapers.
Anyone that reads my answers knows that I'm a big fan of cloth diapers, not only for the reasons stated above but also from a environmental standpoint. Just think of all those diapers that you use and throw away, where do they go? Into a landfill along with all the diapers all the other mothers use on their babies.
Imagine you had to keep that pile of diapers in your back yard until they decayed, yeah, all approximately 3000 of them, at least. Oh, by the way, they take decades to decay. Not to mention all the human waste that is thrown into the landfills along with them and is doing who knows what to our drinking water supply.
Well, I've said enough for now.
Good luck.

My son wore size 3's when he was 8 months old and he wasn't chunky. We tried every kind of disposable diapers. My favorite are Huggies Supremes followed by regular Huggies and then Kmarts Little Ones. Huggies were the only ones that didn't leak. I hate perfumed diapers. And Huggies fit around with thighs better which were the only slightly chunky part of his body. But like other people have said you have to try different kinds.

My daughter is a champion pee-er and peed through EVERYTHING (Pampers Swaddlers, Pampers Baby Dry, Luvs, Babies R Us brand, Target brand, Parent's choice...) absolutely EVERYTHING but Huggies. Those are the only diapers that have consistantly held up and not leaked.
Everyone talks about how expensive Huggies can be, but if you watch for sales and clip coupons, it's not so bad. And, they're cheaper than Pampers!

Try Huggies Overnights diapers. They are available in sizes three-five are are principally made for use for bedtime. Going up one measurement from what your daughter wears for the duration of the day must additionally aid. I've under no circumstances noticeable them earlier than however I've heard well matters approximately Diaper Doublers, which is sort of a maxi pad that is going within the diaper to develop the absorbancy. Some humans swear via them.

All I ever use now are Luvs. Every other brand I've tried---Huggies, Pampers, etc.---have leaked something terrible. When money's tight, I also use Parent's Choice (the Wal-Mart brand), but they tend to leak if you don't get to them immediately.
