we just bought a used upright deep freeze freezer, it looks perfectly clean on the inside but has a horrible stinky, musty old food smell that I cant get rid of. I have tried baking soda, bleach wwater and orange cleaner. It is so bad i gag when cleaning it and we cannot think of even plugging it in to add food until the gross smell is gone..any ideas?

First, clean it with vinegar (regular white wine or apple cider but not balsamic or anything). If its really bad, don't dilute it, just use the straight vinegar & then rinse it with hot water. Its gonna stink too, but should get the other stink out. Then clean it with something that smells good to get rid of the vinegar like Pine-Sol or Mr. Clean. When you're done with all that put a couple of Arm & Hammer Fridge & Freezer boxes in there. It absorbs & neutralizes odors. I always keep one in my fridge as well as one in the freezer & I swear by them. They take away the smell of even the strongest odors like fish or onions, etc... If after you've done all that, it still smells bad, I'd consider getting rid of it. I hope this helps.

Plug it in and let it run for a few days - it will kill the mold likely growing in the hidden places and the smell should go away. In the future, never store a refrigerator or freezer with the door sealed and unit turned off.

Try cleaning it with white vinegar. wash everything down. and then leave a small bowl of white vinegar in the freezer and close the door. leave this overnight. Vinegar is an odor eater and should help.

Haul it out and set it in the sun... wash it out w/ Downy fabric softener mixed w/ water... wipe it out very well, let air-dry in the sun a few days. Then plug in and let it run.

TAKE IT OUTSIDE, AND BLEACH IT DOWN.. THEN LET IT STAY OUTSIDE ((W/ THE LID OPEN, TO "AIR-OUT")
