It depends on the type of hearing loss you have. A lot of people listen through induction (through the bones) and can feel the vibrations, developing their own sense of what things sound like. Others have cochlear implants installed, and sometimes even connect directly to their electronic instruments. I had a friend who was completely deaf, but she could dance to the low frequencies of the Bass and percussion.

You need to find an instrument you can relate to. For some, it is an electronic instrument that they can amplify enough to hear, or have modified to suit their needs. For others it is a percussion instrument that they can feel, and learn to gauge the sound through that perception. Still others can attune themselves to the vibrations of a brass or reed instrument. Remember, you aren't necessarily making music for the world, although anything is possible. The most important thing is to learn to please, and satisfy yourself. I know of at least one person who discovered that their hearing loss was not as extensive as his doctors first believed because he insisted on playing the piano. He could hear the very high keys, and tended to play only those. His audiologist finally took his mother seriously and he eventually received therapy. This was before they had all the fancy diagnostic equipment and it was looked on as a small miracle at the time, but hey, miracles happen every day. Please keep us up to date on your efforts to explore your world of sound and music.

Beethoven gradually became deaf starting in his twenties, and he still created beautiful masterpieces even when he was completely deaf. I personally know a woman who is hard of hearing and she plays the violin. And a man in my church plays the piano and he is also hard of hearing.

yes umm bethoven was deaf I think or one of those famous symphony people were. It has something to do with vibrations and stuff. Think of it like this some deaf people can talk even though they have never heard anyone talk before.
