The term, "Bigfoot," has been around about 40 years. It probably springs from older Indian legends about something that they referred to as Sasquatch.

The American Indians call the big foot Sasquatch......Where as we Americans just call them big foot... And the yeti which is located in Asia is the same thing but they are colored differently.........................................................................................
