The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving stone. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. But the Best book I ever read and will read many times is: "Don Quijote De La Mancha" by Miguel de Cervantes. Don't be afraid of trying (foreign) literature. If there is such a thing as foreign. Besides you can find a million translations of this jewel of a book to almost all the lenguages and dialects that are there. We all live in the same world, and we should enjoy all of it.

Thanks for asking. I remember with pleasure many books I have read, of many different types. Let me just throw out a few: Beach Music, The Bridge of San Luis Rey, A Passage to India, Meet Me in the Green Glenn, The old Man and the Sea, The Ides of March, Perelandria, The Lord of the Rings, A Place to Come To, The Water is Wide, ... too many great writers to honor!

This is a tough question! From just general literature (American and English) there are so many excellent books and I don't know if you mean classics only, genre fiction, or something else entirely. For me, though, my favorite American classic is "The Sound and the Fury" by Faulkner, my favorite genre novel is "Watchers" by Dean Koontz, and my favorite mainstream fiction novel would probably be one of Anne Tyler's books but I cannot decide which one. Perhaps "A Slipping Down Life."

I read about 3 books per week so I will try and narrow down my favorites. My all time favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird. Next would be the Grapes of Wrath by John Stienbeck. Then I read Cannery Row by the same author. I read everything by John Stienbeck. I just love his writing. I tried a bit of Hemingway but didn't get into it.
