Hi,
I really want a BMW, but can not spend a lot of money. There is one BMW 330i for sale on eBay. It was flooded with fresh water. Obviously I am interested because it may fall within my reach. You can have a look at it as well (please give me advice, do not come in my competition)

I am a student, and am willing to work on it, but TO AN EXTENT only. I would appreciate a professional advice. What are the chances of it being a good buy, easy fix, or for being a nightmare?
Thank you.

Looks ok.... but that is the way flood cars are... they look ok, but a lot of the time they aren't.

Water can get into places and then you can't get it out. It will rust parts in places that you can't even see.

I advice against flood cars unless you are planning to strip them down for parts.

I'd stick with the other car that you posted a question about, it's damage is obvious.

Stay away. Flooded cars have a way of dying on you like cancer...

Mold dew under carpets and cushions are only the tip of the iceburg.

Even if the water did not get into any of the electronic circuit boards (which BMW has MANY); imagine EVERY electrical connector corroding on you!

I have no idea exactly how many there are, but I would say 200 -500 or more?

Furthermore, this car will be worth next to nothing when it's time for you to sell. Carfax will blacklist it as flooded and nobody will buy it from you.

There are many vehicles that can be repaired if flodded by fresh water -- BMW's are NOT on the list. They have the most complex electrical system of any vehicle this side of the Space Shuttle and break down all the time without the added help of wet relays, corroded wires and rusting ground connections. Not to mention the fragile anti-lock brake systems, the non-serviceable transmissions, the other-worldly price of things like window lift motors and air bag modules.
Buy an old, used Honda and drive it until you graduate and get a high paying job. Then go pick out a brand new seven series if you want to.

If it was fixable, the guy would not be selling it.

Its sorta fixable, it will cost about almost as much as the car itself to fix it.
However, if u buy it and it cannot be fixed, e-bay will cover it due to fraud on the buyer. See if the buyer accepts refunds and ask him to give you a detailed, if possible certified information on the car and its problem.

flooded upto which level?
if upto dashboard or roof, just forget it.U will not have time to do it.
If below distributor,can think over.
depends on you to find the costings.and decide.
If possible avoid it.
get a proper running car.
