Brad Bird is the latest...but whenever they have a movie to promote, they come here, ask one question and that's it. People get all gaa gaa over them. I don't get it!

Yeah, maybe they do promote their own movies. Brad Bird did promote Ratatouille in his question, but to me, his question was more about discovering what stories people have. I don't personally know him, but he seems like the guy who likes to find out what people are all about, to get inside their heads and see what makes them tick.

Aside from that, people of celebrity status usually have crazy schedules that don't allow them to spend time on Yahoo Answers.

From Yahoo's end, everyone goes gaa gaa over them because Yahoo Answers hypes it. I saw Brad Bird's question on the answers home page, so I answered it. They run a business and it's up to them to do the things that gets their business buzzing. Having hyped celebrity questions makes people feel like they can personally talk to someone they may never even have the opportunity to meet. This causes people to feel like Yahoo Answers makes them feel more important. That means more site views, which means more advertisements for more money.

It's the good old law of supply and demand in action!

Maybe Brad Bird is writing a book???? An yes, Ratatouille just came out...excellent movie and what a wonderful way to meet the director!
Believe it or not celebs are people too! If you had a movie coming out...would you not want everyone to know about it? The internet is a great opportunity to 'share the joy' or accomplishment.
When my grandson was born I emailed everyone.
Perhaps you could ask a question of the celebs who use this method other questions and see if you receive answers non-movie related...such as..."Brad Bird, great movie...what inspired you to bring it to the movie screen?" "Or could you tell us what one of your most impossible dreams were that you accomplished and how did you go about it?" Even I'd be interested in that answer.

Yeah and why not eh..... who needs fans until you have something important coming out like a film or a CD?

They don't really care about us I am afraid only when it suits them......

Don't be too sad though I think we all posses the same thing deep inside to an extent. (although we try to make out we don't)

I guess they just trying to "earn" popularity with us normal folks and trying to make it seem like they actually care about our opinions when we know that they're just lookin to promote their book or movie or whatever.

Don't kid yourselves. It is not even them doing it. Not even their assistants. The production company and its PR experts manage all of these - - - all to generate publicity and interest in the forthcoming project.
