I have 2 goldfish (1 common and 1 comet) in a 10 gallon tank. 3 weeks ago I realized that the common goldfish's anal fin and the pair of pelvic fin are damaged. I mean it just looks like the fin was cut out a piece by a scissor. Then the dorsal fin as well after 2 days. I immediately treat with Melafix & salt, the fin didn't get worse but also not getting any better. I then did 10% partial water change every other day for a week and treated the tank with maracyn. After 5 days I did a water change and continue the Melafix / salt treatment. It's been over 7 days now but it's not getting worse or any better. The fish is still active. PH is 7.4 and ammonia is 0.
I was recommended to use Fungus Clear by Jungle Lab, but want to hear from you guys before starting another treatment. Thanks for your help.

Actually I'm very surprised that the Maracyn didn't correct the problem in 5 days, but there are a few resistant strains of this bacteria out there.

The Fungus Clear from Jungle is one of the few products by this company I would use personally. It should take care of the problem and contains antibiotics not often used and very effective for fin rot.

As you have seen for yourself, Melafix is a non cure. It's not strong enough to actually cure most problems but instead can help prevent them. But generally speaking it's not needed in a good clean tank.

Try the Fungus Cure, but keep up the treatment for a full 10 days, just to be sure.

Also remember that it's very important to remove the carbon from your filter for the entire treatment time! The carbon will remove the medication. If this treatment doesn't take care of the problem, feel free to email me and I'll get you the names of some antibiotics that will certainly clear up the problem but you will need a vet to write a prescription.
