I like songs that feature the acoustic guitar and male vocals (i.e. Blackbird by The Beatles, True Love Waits by Radiohead, I am a Rock by Simon and Garfunkel, or Stop This Train by John Mayer)
I would prefer a newer artist
please do not just post your favorite song

also, I like rock songs with piano parts

I highly recommand by favorite artist Taylor Hicks. He has amazing talent, soulful voice, incredible guitar slider, unbelieveable stage presence. His cds are great the first time you listen to them and only get better with each listening easily worth twice the money you will pay for them. An all and all outstanding musical performer.

I would suggest Robin Thicke. He has lots of piano, acoustic and great vocals. Not ALL of his songs are sung in falsetto, and when I got the CD I was pleasantly surprised by his width of knowledge of so many music genres.

Also someone above mentioned Taylor Hicks - his PRE-Idol CDs (there are two: In Your Time and Under the Radar) are what you would be looking for. Good stuff; raw, in-the-bar-playing-to-small-crowds kind of music...plus harmonica, u can't beat that with a stick!

Also try Marc Broussard!

Hope I've helped! Good luck on your search!

Try The Fray. They're a fairly soft band that uses piano. Lifehouse and Trading Yesterday are good bands, too. Evanescence doesn't use a lot of acoustic (though they do have some songs with acoustic guitar) but they use a TON of piano.

You sound like you would really love Cat Stevens. No, he is not a newer artist, sorry, he is a singer-songwriter from the 1970s. Yes, he sung, and he played acoustic guitar, and he also played piano parts. Get the album "Tea for the Tillerman". You might also love Neil Young, but that may be a little too much musical genius for you to deal with right now. ;)

Hmm... NO ONE has mentioned Nick Drake yet?

His Pink Moon album is as pure a distillation of the style you like as you'll ever get. Just Nick, his guitar, one piano part in one song, and a microphone. A brilliant half-hour of listening.

You may try a compilation of various artists cd. I recently bought a cd called "The Best Acoustic Album." It has music from REM, Coldplay, David Gray, Radiohead, Amos Lee, Ben Harper, Joss Stone and more. I love it. Try it.

Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" is a beautiful song w/ acoustic and male vocals. Some of their other songs you might like are "If" and "Granchester Meadows". So, maybe those are some of my favorite songs, but they do meet your criteria...
