I've been using the 8-in-1 brand flea spray for my ferret, Doc. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working and I'm not sure what to do for the poor guy! I've heard that Frontline or Advantage brands work as long as you follow the instructions for use on kittens. Has anyone had any success with either of these, or does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm desperate and so far I've been lucky and they haven't seemed to spread past his cage but I'm starting to get pretty frustrated.

I'm not sure where he's getting them from! I have no other pets so that can't be it. I can only assume that they somehow were carried inside and took up residence.

Revolution, Frontline Top Spot, Frontline-Plus, Frontline Spray, and Advantage are all safe for use on ferrets.

Revolution is effective against fleas and ticks as well as ear mites, sarcoptic (skin) mites, and also prevents heartworms.

Frontline is effective against fleas, ticks, and ear mites.

Advantage is only effective against fleas.

The cat/kitten versions of these products should be used. Products made for dogs/puppies should never be used on a ferret.

Is there a knowledgeable local ferret rescue group in your area?

Although I don't work with ferrets, we have a few ferret rescues where I work; I can e-mail myself (as a reminder) to ask those who work with the ferrets, but I probably couldn't get back to you until earlier next week--but I'll try for this weekend sometime.)

I hope Doc (and you) find some relief before then.

sure it truly is particularly effectual yet you may desire to basically use a small quantity. I used this on my ferrets and that they HATED it regardless of the indisputable fact that it worked o.k.. some vets will additionally prescribe you cat spot on Frontline, which works large for ferrets yet you desire the nicely suited dosage so a vet lots make the doses for you.

PLEASE stop using flea products such as the ones you mentioned on your ferret
NONE of them are approved by vets for ferrets -you may kill him using things like this- if you want the fleas off him - stick him in the tub -- but keep his head out of the water and all the fleas will jump off. . .
By the way - fleas lay millions of eggs in one day and they can lie dormant - throw away all his bedding and leave it outside - then do the water technique on Doc
Where is he getting fleas from??
if you have dogs and cats treat them with frontline or advantix. . ferrets are NOT KITTENS!!! They are ferrets!!
WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Using 1/2 tube of the kitten sized Advantage is what we recommend. Just put it on the back of his neck where he can't turn and lick it off. It's off label use, but very safe. Use monthly.
