I don't think they should. The FCC does have the right to revoke licenses and can censure and fine as they Did when Howard Stearn began to criticize gwb. I think a lot of these guys are pretty irresponsible. Not many people took Howard seriously about his political comments, but they tend to take a lot of these other clowns seriously. I here it all the time at work when people come back from lunch after listening to my show. They take what I say at my word without checking the facts just cuz I say so. I take things out of context and cherry pick stories I want people to hear. Been doing it for years and they keep lapping it up. I consider myself to be the greatest propagandist in recent American history.

This is never going to happen. There is no constitutional basis for requiring "equal time" on radio, but not in print or TV news. Furthermore, the so called fairness doctrine is based on the assumption that there are only 2 points of view, when there could be many more. Why not give everyone their say in every newspaper, radio and TV news or opinion program? The Supreme Court will strike it down, like they struck down the part of McCain Feingold restricting free speech in political campaigns.

It is just another attempt to silence Christians and our moral values. First, they try to stop us at our grass roots of lobbying, which failed the first time around. Then they tried to silence the Gospel, with the Hate Crimes Bill, which is still alive at this moment. only because people do not realize what it really is intended to stop, free speech and Christian views. So now they are trying to stop the Conservatives by this Fairness Doctrine which is another attempt to push their agenda down our throats. If they want to spread their propaganda, let them pay for it themselves.

I hope that people will wake up and realize what is happening to us before it is too late. There is a group of people that are in control of our Lower Courts, Schools, and many parts of our Government, that do not fear God and want to silence us so that they can turn our Country into a very unrealistic pipe dream that never will work. A Socialistic, Godless Country with no morals and many laws. I am not saying that these people are evil, what I am saying is this, they are being controled by Satan, without them even knowing it. They are being led by their nose as a cow being led to the slaughter. We need freedom of speech to declare the truth and warn others before they are lulled to sleep by a false sense of security.

How can anyone, liberal or conservative, agree with this legislation. But it seems many libs want to force talk radio into offering balanced opinions. There is so much information out there you can find all sorts of information. Of course, the cons don't always believe in free speech either..see flag burning.

Isn`t amazing that when conservatives had no one to listen to for 50 years , but Bias` Liberal news outlets like , CBS , NBC , ABC , CNN , MSNBC ,PBS , NY Times (crimes) , LA Times , Boston Globe there was no problem ? Lo` and Behold we as Conservatives get 2 or 3 good programs on TV and Radio , and The Washington Times newspaper that tell another side to the Liberal lies` and left-leaning slant on all the news , and now they want a "Fairness Doctrine" ??Why ? Because they can`t pay people to listen to them ! Because they can`t handle the truth ! Why do the liberals only do their so called Presidential debates on Liberal Outlets ? Why ? Because they know they are not going to get any hard ball questions from the very Liberal media they are in bed with !! Conservatives go the Liberal Outlets for their debate , I dare the Liberals` to send their Presidential Candidates to FOX News for a debate ? You talk about a speech impediment , stammering and stuttering , and I guarantee you not one of them would answer a question that only required a YES or a NO answer ! Their spin doctors can`t handle questions that require a direct response ! If you think they can , well you will never know unless you can drag your candidates into FOX NEWS in order for you to see them as they really are !

No I don't think it's right for congress to bring legislation to ban talk radio. If they succeed at banning talk radio... perhaps we need to bring forth legislation to ban the cr*p they spew. If they think they'll have a belly full of laughs to "shut up Americans"... How funny it would be to turn the tables on them.

This just seems par for the course- congress gives themselves a generous salary increase than waste time debating freedom of speech.

Well they own ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, Jerry Springer, Oprah Winfrey, Letterman and mostly all of the media.
To be fair, it would make sense for them to demand unequal time. Isn't that who spoiled rich Paris Hilton brats like John Kerry aspire too? It is supposed to be all liberal all the time, NO EXCEPTIONS.
You just don't get it sonny. We will find you and fix you right in the head. Invasion of the body snatchers. Watch out!

You were misinformed, sir. The Congress does not have that authority, that power. Free speech. A little thing called the First Amendment to the Constitution would require a constitutional amendment and a vote by the people. It would never happen.

It is disturbing anytime government tries to sensor dissenting opinions. There are many situations where limiting harmful expression may be appropriate, such as yelling "fire" in a theater, child porn, etc. But to limit speech based on political difference is a step closer to totalitarianism.
