In New York City, or any other busy and complicated Cities, do you have problems reading the road sign from certain distance?

Today I drove to New York City and when I stopped at a stop light, I was looking for road signs to see what route I needed to go on. The road sign was allll the wayyyy to the next side of the road, and the road sign was so small. I could not see the damn sign, so I had to go through the intersection before I could see the road sign, which was already too late.

I live in a little city in New Zealand so I know my way around. But last year I lived in Sydney and it was really busy and roads going different ways and signs that were too small.

I've never been to America though so I don't know what it's like there.

I hope you're having a good day! xx

Yeah, while traveling in a big city there was a sign saying West, when the sign was really pointing East (I didn't follow the sign, I saw the mistake, I knew which way was east and which way was west). To someone from out of town this can be a BIG mistake and could even be dangerous. Remember the saying " be aware of your surroundings, know the neighborhood you're in". This could be why some people end up in bad neighborhoods.
Another confusion is, expressways need to have the signs posted twice, far enough before, from the entrance & overhead just in case you are behind a tall vehicle, or there is a lot of traffic. I get in the middle lane because I am not sure if I will be turning left or right. Then its too late, too much traffic to get over in time. Either way there needs to be a definite (standard) way of posting signs and this should be consistant state-to-state. This will give the motorist a general understanding of streets, expressways, road rules and what to expect.

In some residential and business areas, there are No Street Signs at all.

When you have this kind of confusion on the roads, it leads to accidents!

That's common all over the country. Remember, roads are designed by people who call themselves "civil engineers". Everybody know that Engineers are NEVER civil!
