I just upgraded my computer from 1GB of ram to 3GBs of ram. I inserted 2 CMX1024-3200C2PRO into the computer. I cost me almost 230 dollars to buy it, and I'm not seeing any performance increase. Infact, the computer seems to be running SLOWER and is making applications crash more often (Zone Alarm) which then freezes up my whole computer.

I can't adjust anything in the BIOS, I think the timing is wrong. I would like to know how and how to OC the RAM.

Any suggestions?

Most computer users have been trained that if you want more speed for your computer, then add more memory. Well, this is true, in certain circumstances. But for most of the times, it really is just bad files in your registry files. Corrupted or missing registry files can make your computer too slow.
The registry is a main part of your computer's Operating System. With time, as you use Windows and install and uninstall programs, your registry will get congested and full of errors. So your computer could slow down. So, if you can clean it up this problem can be solved.Sometimes you can speed computer up by 300%. To clean up registry,You can download a software called regsitry cleaner---Clean registry, remnant, corrupt files and temp files,history,cookies,etc.. This site:

lists top 5 registry cleaner, you can download and scan for free.
Good luck!

I HOPE YOU GOT THAT FANCY-SOUNDING RAM AT A REPUTABLE SOURCE. (Like at a place where they'll give you your money back.)
I don't give a hoot what serial or part number you put in, but is it COMPATIBLE with your unit?
Something like DDR2 SDRAM or DDR DRAM or ???????.
A reputable dealer would have found out for you what RAM you require.
It sounds to me like the RAM you put in is NOT compatible.
It didn't improve your RAM.
It didn't increase the speed.
It is sluggish, because it has to work around the dummy RAM, and perhaps use your HDD as Virtual RAM, and any time you use Virtual RAM, it is slower than regular RAM as it uses the HDD.
I hope you get your "moola" back.
PS: You could have done a check with Control Panel (System) to see if your RAM type is listed, OR you could have done a DOS boot to see what kind of RAM you have, OR you could have checked the "User Manual" to see.

Not only not enough RAM slows a computer. Uninstall programs that you don't need, delete not necessary files and close programs that you don't use.
Also open Start -> Run. Type msconfig and press enter. On the Startup tab disable programs you don't use frequently.
