Well, seeing as I believe we come here to evolve our souls, I'd have to say the thought "If I don't get it I'll have to come back and try again anyway, so I might as well get it right this time" kind of overrules that.

Nothing would matter if there were no resurrection after death. Since God has promised to bring some people back to life (both just and unjust), we can be confident that life does make a difference. If there is no God, then go ahead and eat, drink, for tomorrow we die. It will not make a difference how you live, outside of trying to avoid trouble with the law or lung cancer. But you gotta die sometime anyway. If this life is all you get, grab the gusto. Just remember that Socrates argued that the real philosophers prepare for death.

OK. I know that I am going to eventually die.
How I die, is three choices;
1. Accidental death.
2. Natural death.
3. Death due to sickness.
No. 1 I cannot do anything about. Lighting comes down, kills me. End of story....
No. 3 I can greatly reduce, or eliminate, by doing daily exercising and eating right.
No. 2 is death where you close you eyes, and die. No pain, no suffering.
I prefer No. 2. So I exercise every day, wear my seat belt, be careful in everything I do. All this makes a difference in my daily life. It makes my life BETTER.

Everyone is looking for permanence. Maybe that's the reason this whole "life after death" idea got started. Everybody fears the absolute darkness that they would rather believe in the possibility of eternal damnation rather than eternal nothing.
Why can't we all be like children building sand castles and snow men. Yes they know it will disappear eventually, but it is not the product that they are after. It is in the joy of building it.
Maybe we can think of our lives as our sandcastles. We want to make the best our abilities would allow us, even though we know tomorrow the tide will take it.

It makes a diff BECAUSE we will all one day die. How do, or do you want to be remembered? would you rather be an insignificant sidenote in the history of everything, or a chapter unto yourself? both are honorable and equally respectable, the choice we all make every day, even if we choose some days to be heroic characters and the next day to be silent supporting players. so we make a difference, whether we choose to or not, because choosing not to is still a choice, and affects the entire production and the end product. What difference does it make? No one will know untill it's all over and God declares it the end.

It's not that you die, in that we have little choice. It is how you live that makes the difference.
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I don't know about the preceding of life; it starts when one is born and I don't think anything follows it; which makes it more important for one to use ones chance wisely.
The way one lives makes a difference and it is the only chance one has to make a difference to oneself and most important to the things one values and the others that matter.

I believe that life in itself is a Gift from God. How & what we choose to do with it is up to us. I also believe that this is all some kind of test to see who is capable of striving for perfection within this life time or any life time as long as the earth exist's. Not so much in materialistic accomplishments but spiritual awareness. I am not here to satisfy my ego...but to satisfy my heart & soul. I am here to help others feel acceptance in the world & to give them love & understanding. That's my purpose in life. That is why I am here. Life is beautiful.....God is Love. All is well.

It makes a huge difference. I mean think about it I mean if you live a happy long good life it's because you have done something good. I mean if you live a bad one it will be remebered as bad everything is bad. but good lives aren't easy rele life isnt easy. So it does make a diffrence sure we will all die but its how we leave this world that makes the difference

Since you posed the question, why shouldn't we answer you? Don't distance yourself from your question as it sounds like you are afraid of an answer. Anything and everything always makes a difference. If you can't see that, then it's time to open your eyes. Our lives are finite but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be lived. Otherwise what is the point?
