i wouldn't go for a gift certificate because you can't use it everywhere... but money is always good.

well what i would do is ask her what she wants first... if she gives u an answer, get that. if she does not, ask her questions that might help u find a gift, ask things like 'don't u wish u had a computer just for ur own?' or 'so what was that cute shirt u wanted sooooo badly?' things like this will get u the answer....
here r somethings that i think a 14 yr old would want:
giftcard
money
make up
itunes giftcards
clothes
subscrition to a magazine
these r a few... there r some websites that give u lots of ideas, just look it up on google
hope this helped!!

Cds or dvds are good, if you know her taste. Books series she likes. Maybe a magazine subscription to her favourite magazine. A gift certificate to the mall. Photo frame with a picture of you and her and friends in it. A journal or diary for her to record her thoughts during her 14th year.
If her parents approve maybe a make up kit or a nail kit with different coloured polishes and manicure items.
Pretty cologne, if that's ok with her parents too, nothing too sexy or overpowering.
Cute sun hat, sunglasses, if she doesn't need perscription ones.
A charm bracelet with a special charm that represents your friendship.
Something cute for her bedroom like throw pillows etc. A poster of her favourite singer/actor/band/athlete.
If she likes earrings a pretty pair of earrings for school or maybe special occasions.

She would probably love a Vespa or Honda scooter. If you don't happen to have a few thousand laying around, something decadently chocolate would work, or a gift certificate at a handbag shop or clothing store, or leather shop.

I would think a girft card, becuase you can't really tell what a girl is into. Just ask her what her favorite store is and buy it. Thats what I like to recieve and give the most.
