I just added some memory to our desk top and it made a huge difference. Other ways to increase the speed would be to defrag the computer, dump useless files, and disable programs that are running in the background and diverting important resources from your other programs. I reformatted my system a few months ago to get rid of all the factory stuff that takes up system resources. I have a Think Pad and there are a bunch of IBM programs running in the background. If the rest doesn't work than you might want to try and upgrade the processesor, but I found that at that point it is usually better to just buy another system for all of the money you begin to put into the system.

Probably but you need to find out what is making is slow. Try to run MSCONFIG and look at your startup. THen maybe defrag your hard drive.
