I have two male dogs that don't get along. One is a two year old lab and pit (ITS NOT THE PIT IN HIM... I HAVE ANOTHER DOG WHO IS PART PIT TOO AND SHES A GOOD DOG) and the other one I'm not sure he's a 5 year old mutt. They get into dog fights constantly. Neither one of them are nuetered, but the female dog is. We have another male dog who lives among them and they don't seem to have a problem. The other male dogs is 8 and the female is 7. I'm at the end of my rope and i don't want to get rid of them.... I NEED HELP!!! What should i do?

The reason that you're in this situation is because you're in denial.

I've had American Pit Bull Terriers (APBTs) for years and I know they're loyal, intelligent, people-loving animals... simultaneously, they have dog aggression in their blood. They were bred to fight other dogs and no amount of breeding will make this trait that's burned into their genes disappear.

Most APBTs don't show dog aggression till they are adults, maybe even older than that--some APBTs NEVER show any type of dog aggression... just because you have a mutt that has APBT blood and supposedly doesn't show aggression towards other animals, doesn't mean that that automatically means all APBTs are the same way... and they're not. The majority of well-bred, well-raised, human-loving APBTs turn out to be dog aggressive.

If you accept that maybe you'd be able to solve this problem quicker. And you should have thought about the temperament of your dogs before getting another one.

Try neutering/spaying, and if that doesn't work you hopefully accept and know why. Then you can attempt to either manage your time between them and not allow them to be in contact with each other, or you can give one of them to a responsible, one-dog family.

The two males are fighting because of dominance issues. Since they are not neutered that just makes the situation worse. You need to take them to some training....then they will see you are the dominant one and the fighting will stop. Hope this helps, but it is a natural instinct between in tact male dogs.

Unneutered male dogs will usually fight. Its a hormonal thing. Neutering may help a lot. Multiple dogs that live together will often fight for pack leadership. Get them neutered. You still might have to keep them apart the rest of their lives as they may never get along.

I would recommend having your intact males neutered and I highly recommend Crate/Rotate:
