ok i have a turtle pond in my back yard with three small turtles. the all got out last night.
we`ve only found one.
but she was in my neighbors yard and they were cutting down their tree.
when we found her she has only ONE leg and no tail.
she was bleeding and has a cracked shell pretty bad.
theres saw dust ALL in her shell and stuck to her neck with the blood.
all the vets are closed and the emergancy clinic only cares for dogs and cats.
she seemd to want to swim and tries her best.
she was in shock but i think shes finally coming out of it.
i think they were caught by a racoon or possum.
we havent found the others.
shes just over a year old.
is there hope?
please help

Oh my gosh! That is so sad! I don't knwo of anything you can do if all of the vets are closed. Have you tried calling the emergency place to see what they recommend? Have you tried searching in other cities or places near by that might have a turtle vet? Thats so sad. Well at least get her in tommorow and I hope she hangs in there until then. Poor baby, I wish I could be of more help!
Good luck getting her healthy, I hope she makes it!

There isn't a good chance that the turtle is going to make it, but any vet clinic should be willing to euthanize it so it doesn't suffer. There is a high rate of mortality for turtles in outdoor ponds to racoons. Please call the emergency vets, to see if they will at least help herstop suffering.

she might have gotten attacked by a raccon. turtles are a favorite dish of raccons and they are pros at eating them too. your best bet is to try the vet over and over and OVER again until u can get an appointment. u should try as hard as possible. the wounds might be infected so see if u can find some turtle medicine at the store to help with pain or to disenfect it. keep trying the vet! it a matter of life and death now. also keep her in a cardboard box. with lots of warmth. and use newspaper as bedding. check it periodically thoughout the night if u cant get a hold of the vet. the turt will be in my prayers :)

I wish I could give you hope, but without a Vet there isn't any. Even though the clinic says they only do domestic animals, if it were me, I pile in there with my turtle and say please help. ANY vet worth the degree will do their best, It's your only shot. This baby doesn't have much time. I've seen worse recover - so try.

I hate to say it, but if something ate 3 of her legs off and her tail, she won't survive. She won't be able to swim and eat. She really should be put down humanely and any vet can do that.
