"PERFECT".. The "1972 Miami Dolphins",.. Weakest schedule,, so what!, That's like saying to an undefeated boxer big deal you fought bums,.. but each fight 12- 15 rounds taking a beating to get up for each fight,.. training,.. etc.. you get the point!

I agree, but the Bears played a weaker Super bowl team. The '84 49ers beat the team with a 14-2 record, and the next year the 'Phins beat those Bears. As well, did not the '84 49ers beat the Bears of '84 in the NFC championship game ? All games within 1 year of each other. I give the edge to the '84 49ers. The '72 Phins were great, but were sort of lucky and only had a 14 game season. I like the '99 Rams "Greatest Show on Turf ?" Because they were fun to watch. I look for offense, you look for defense. What was the '99 Rams record, I forget ? I say the '85 Bears were the greatest defensive team ever.

Of course everyone has to come up with excuses to deny the obvious. The 1972 Dolphins have done what no one else has done. And they did with a back up QB for several games in the season. They had a legend for a coach and a workman ethic from beginning to end. The Niners had a division for most of the Eighties and Nineties which was the football equivalent of a baited field, and the Bears quickly went downhill after the other teams adjusted to the novelty of the 46 defense and the emergence of the West Coast offense. Give the Dolphins their due; perfection in the pro ranks has happened once and once only- the Dolphins are the ones that did it.

the year before the Broncos won back to back super bowls you could have made the argument that they were among the best ever but then they lost in the playoffs the J'ville, so there went that argument. The 9'ers had some great teams, the packers in the early days had some great teams, the Broncos team that did go back to back was really good, the Bears team was good as well as the undefeated Dolphins team. they did beat winning teams in the playoffs and super bowl. Very hard question to answer.

The 1992 Dallas Cowboys. That team was so loaded with with talent! They had two complete starting defensive lines, and second and third stringers would start for most teams. If the salary cap and free agency hadn't kicked in the next year (sending so many of their players elsewhere), The Cowboys probably would have won about 6 straight Super Bowls instead of three out of four.

as much as ihate to bring them up! I would think evrey one is forgetting a team that needs to be recognized! What about the DALLAS COWBOYS of 92,93,95 THE BOYS WON BACK TO BACK SUPERBOWLS. THE 93 a 52 to 17 shelacking of the highest scoring team in history of the NFL at the time the JIM KELLY led BUFFALO BILLS. The 94 a little closer contest between the same two teams. DALLAS winning 30 to 13. and then going on to win a third superbowl in FOUR YEARS over the men of steel city PITTSBURG STEELERS.

It was the 1972 Dolphins. Only UNDEFEATED team. No team did it before and no team has done it since. To the one talking against the 49ers because they beat Elway "with basically no team around him" it isn't THEIR fault he got to the Superbowl. They don't get to pick their opponent, that is what the regular season and playoffs are for. It's like when the 49ers CRUSHED the Chargers in Superbowl 29. They didn't get to pick who they played.

Hard to compare teams from different eras, but I would say that hands down, George Halas' and Sid Luckman's 1940 Bears were the best ever. They beat the 'Skins 73-0 in the championship game.

I agree with the 85 bears... that was a stacked team on both sides... tough schedule... and having a huge DT in as a back to run in the ball.. brilliant
I don't give teams that have a weak schedule any credit.. ever.... If you go in with a weak schedule.. it means you only have a mediocre team.. and you would end up losing 3 or 4 games if you have a "decent" schedule...
It's kinda like Notre Dame... they deserve nothing until they get a real schedule... they only play two real teams in USC and Michigan.. get killed... almost lost to teams like Stanford and the Airforce... for being such a "great" team.. you don't so "great" effort or skill.... then they get dominated in the bowls for the past... what is it now... 8 years??? yeah... ND sucks
the 72 dolphins are over rated

The 2000 ravens maybe they werent as dominant as the 72 dolphins or the 85 bears but they had the best defense of all time and they say defense wins championships
