I would have to agree with Ch-Ch-Changes and recommend you purchase a good pair of binoculars. There are some things that can only be seen with binoculars like the ISS/Shuttle when it is visible. Also you need to learn where things are before you can turn a telescope to them.
And again I agree that you should also invest in a good set of celestial maps. I would recommend the purchase of the "Norton's Star Atlas" as it is an excellent starter map. A planesphere is another purchase you should look into to learn the position of the constellations.
You will want to look at more than the planets and the Moon once you receive your new scope. You will need to learn where everything is at and when it is visible so that you can make use of your new telescope. Be patient, the sky isn't going anywhere.
I have given hundreds of programs to people who are just beginning the hobby of astronomy and these are the things I recommend to them before making the purchase of a telescope.

If a telescope is already on the way, why not save your money and instead spend about $100 on a good pair of binoculars (10 x 25 ought to do it). Get familiar with the consellations by using a star chart. You would be surprised what you can see with a good pair of binoculars, plus they add depth to the field fo view. Locate the Andromeda Galaxy. You will see a fuzzy patch, which will be all the more awesome with your new scope. I'm curious what kind of scope you bought. I sure hope it was better than a 60mm aperture, because if not, the binoculars would be the better instrument.

there is nothing out there tonight, that won't be there when the telescope that you ordered gets delivered to you. but I'm sure that you can get something cheap at wal-mart. but you have to remember one thing, cheap+telescope=disappointment.
