Here are some that you won't want to miss:

"Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen-Go to a bookstore, look around, and you will always see this book. Everyone and their mother has read it, so it's worth the time.

"Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte-Another book that nearly everyone has read. It's a wonderful gothic love story. I loved it, but wasn't expecting how dark it was. Lovely novel, though.

"The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton-This is about a woman who comes into New York high society and switches things up! A wonderful book and equally amazing movie! I loved every minute of it!

"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain-Full of humor and some pretty heavy topics also. Not just for kids. I hated it at first, but the message was really very good.

"Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte-I haven't read this, but apparently many, many people have. It's one that I don't want to miss.

"1984" by George Orwell-Sort of a sci-fi fantasy when the genre wasn't really that popular. It's how Orwell pictured 1984, and it's one that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a quick read also.

"The Sound and the Fury" by William Faulkner-It's about the Compsom family, which is pretty popular in literature. Faulkner's greatest work, and one that I'm sure took tons of time. He wrote it in "stream of consciousness", which means that when a character is thinking about something, something else could pop into his head and he would go off into that tangent. Worth all of the time spent trying to understand it!

"Moby Dick" by Herman Melville-Something that is worth reading just to be able to say that you read it. I'm sure that it's a magnificent story also (I haven't read it yet).

Also try something by Ayn Rand. I've heard that she'll make you think about things. I haven't read any of her things yet, but I'm excited to.

Good luck and happy reading!!

The final e book I examine substitute right into a reread, The Poisonwood Bible via Barbara Kingsolver.I purely purchase hardback books so as that they are going to final and that i will examine the comparable e book each and every 3 or 4 years. I continuously locate some thing new when I examine them back. a number of my admired authors are Toni Morrison, William Faulkner, Joyce Carol Oates and Larry McMurtry. examining is a huge part of my existence and the only sedative that relatively places my techniques comfortable. i'm the guy who reads the cereal container if there isn't any longer something accessible.

~ Anything by Agatha Christie - "And Then There Were None" is my favorite book of hers, followed closely by "Death Comes as the End."
~ To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - This is one of my favorite books. After you read it, I also recommend renting the movie; it, too, is absolutely amazing.
~ The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand - Just amazing.
~ Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger - A great book.
~ The Odyssey by Homer - Okay, now this is definately a classic! I recommend the translation by Robert Fitzgerald.
~ Anything by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the Sherlock Holmes mysteries) - You should get your hands on one of those "collection" books that have all the Sherlock Holmes stories in them. There's tons of short stories and a few stories that are novel-sized. They're amazing!
~ Anything by Stephen King, if you consider his writing "classic." Everything he writes is great.

Go to the classic section at your local bookstore, close your eyes and pick the first one you touch. They're all good.
