Why are SOME Americans so ignorant and arrogant?

*Inspired by personal experiences*.

SOME Americans act as if they are the only people in the world with a great health care system, education and way of life. SOME Americans are so competitive and want the country to be the first in anything. SOME Americans believe that they are the only first world country.

What's wrong with some of us today? I know that only a few Americans are like that and not many are. What's going on?

I SAID.. SOME AMERICANS.

I AM NOT GENERALIZING ANYTHING AT ALL. IF YOU COULD READ I SAID: 'SOME' AMERICANS.. SOME PEOPLE ARE SO EXTRA THESE DAYS..

NOT MENTIONING NAMES GRACIE WHO IS BEING EXTRA. MY BF IS AMERICAN, MY SISTER IS AMERICAN, MY RELATIVES ARE FREAKING BORN AMERICANS.

Yes the rest of the world meets that criteria. But Americans stand out. I mean, the Stars and Stripes is everywhere.. I can see them all over here posting how great their country is compared to others.

These are my five points and i like to use them this way!

i am american, and i can see how someone who is not american would get that assumption. and a lot of americans are. but a lot aren't. the reason we all possess some sort of arrogance about our country is because we have lent hands to a lot of countries. we have tried to help our friends out. arrongance may not be the right way to boast, but nevertheless, it does indeed happen. the ones that aren't arrogant are generally the ones that see america for what she is, a stronger country here to help the smaller countries.
i'm sorry you get attacked for your opinion. some people just have a hard time hearing truth.

Being an American, I know what your talking about.
I think its from lack of exposure to culture. We're brought up being taught that we are the best country, not in so many words, luckily, some of us break the spell.
But as we know all too well, every country has their ignorant people. Like the people who hate ALL americans, based on a label.

Oh, and watch, here come the thumbs-down...Of course, I can't return the favor, since somebodies ignorance caused my last account to be suspended...argh!

I don't know about ignorant but arrogant might be because of "The American Dream" For a long time, America was the promised land. And to this people, it still is.

I think you are going to find ignorant and arrogant people in every country not just here in America. We do love our country just like I am sure you do yours. We have a whole lot of nice, caring, compassionate people over here just give us a chance.

Who are you to judge who is ignorant and arrogant? Why would you choose to post such a negative question about any nationality?

EDIT: Every citizen of every country should be proud of their citizenship and wave its flag. I love America, and I love that God blessed this Nation when it was born. There can be no unity when you only point out the differences.

Some people from all different cultures are ignorant and arogant as ignorance and arrogance knows no race, color, culture, or even religion. Some people are just egotistical and some aren't. Also some of it iis from not being exposed to different cultures as well as different ways of life.

Why is anyone in the world ignorant and arrogant? It happens. Everyone has the right to be and act how they see fit. Some people just see fit to act ignorant and arrogant.

I think that our health care system sucks! But if "some Americans are ignorant and arrogant" where does that put the French?

Well, there's something about having so many people in the world

clamoring to visit us,
applying for citizenship,
risking their lives for a chance at asylum,
choosing our health care system when they really need good medical attention,
sending their children to our universities, and
accepting our generous foreign aid,

that really goes to our heads, ya know?

i like it that you highlight "SOME." that's wise, and shows your fair-mindedness.
it's my experience that a portion of any population has it's share of idiots of that nature.
i think one thing that makes "US" seem that way is having 'pride in our country' forced down our throats from an early age.
when i see the disgraceful way our government can sometimes act, or the atrocious crimes our citizens can commit it makes me bow my head in shame. of course, America has no stranglehold on this type of behavior either. it' just that i'm more conscious of it due to the media.
