Google is the BEST!
But to get the most out of it you need to use the
Advanced Search Feature.
Which lets you
1) Type phrases without using the " on each side of the
phrase as you type for use in the search.
I Find this the most useful feature.
2) Exclude words from the search
3) Search for any one of a list of words
4) Limit the seach to the Tiyle, URL, etc.
Try setting the advanced page as your choice for Search engine.

Google has a massive database and is excellent when searching for popular terms such as "iPhone" but Google is terrible when it comes to less popular terms because it seems only Corperate sites has the resources to meet Google's insane criteria. And a lot of what I look for is on people's personal websites... and they are perhaps not so keen to spend hundreds of man hours optimizing for Google. I have noticed less popular search terms come up easily on Yahoo, MSN, etc... since they have more realistic criteria and leaves room for human error. And lately I've noticed Google is coming up with way too many Myspace pages, it's really annoying! And old Google groups postings from like 10 years ago lol what's that nonsense about?
Google has a massive database, but I prefer quality over quantity. Google's other products are all pretty good though.
Google also has little to no respect for people's privacy, they even use your Google email for marketing purposes. And your Google searches and what sites you clicked on are saved forever on Google servers attached to your computer's IP address. What are they planning to do with your web surfing habits?

I use Metacrawler.com it combines all the answers from different search engines, and weights the results towards the best answers. It includes both Google and Yahoo searches.

I've been a Yahoo supporter for years. It carries news and other subjects right on the main page, whereas Google is just the search button. personal preference
