Before we talk about tank size and crickets let's discuss the water bowl. Is that your chameleon's only source of drinking water? I hope you were told that chameleons rarely if ever recognize and drink from standing water. The standard way to water chameleons is through a drip system or through spraying them. They tend only to recognize water that is dripping or in droplet form on leaves.

My veiled is 6 months old and is in a 24x18 screen cage which is now too small for him. They need large enclosures, with twice daily misting to provide humidity and water (they don't drink from bowls). I also have a drip cup set on top to offer dripping water every morning. I have a live Schefflera plant in the cage for climbing, as well as extra fake vines and plants. Don't use loose substrate on the bottom--it is too difficult to keep clean and the crickets will hide in it. I free feed my crickets after dusting them in a calcium/D3 supplement. Also, the crickets are properly housed and gutloaded. The amound of crickets he will eat depends on his size--young eat a lot more than adults. Just offer him some and if he eats them all give him more. Go to:
