...and would it be practical for me to take a shot at the GMAT test while I'm still in my BA program to see where I land? Or should I wait until I get my Bachelor's first?

It depends upon what you see as reputable. At some top schools these days you may need a score near 700 in order to beat out the competition (500 is the mean), but at a lot of other schools, the GMAT score you will need will depend upon your GPA. At a few places I've worked, the formula they used was 200xGPA + GMAT. If the total was greater than 1125, you were an automatic admit. If it was less than 1000 you were an automatic reject. They could take up to 10% of their student body from between 1000 and 1125, so whether anyone in that range got admitted depended upon who else applied and other factors, like their desire to be seen positively in the rankings and their need for additional revenues.

hie... me too doing my GMAT ... theres no harm in taking nd starting stdyng for gmat from now itself trust me its not so easy... nd max score uneed to get into a good colleges is above 600...u cud start learning on ur own ... take ur time u hve still time to finsh ur BA first... want ny sites tht u cud refer too can give u too...not a probs.... just dont appear for gmat without preparing ..coz these scores are valid for 5years ... but if u take agn nd agn then colleges do count tht too.. so take ur own time nd stdy ...nd gve it... u wana try gmat then u can try online there r many sites ..tht provide free gmat online tests... www.mba.com u can download gmat prep from this site nd try it too ..
