Right before you decide to shift apply clutch and ease it in to gear , You are down shifting ?? Up shift is the same push clutch in 1 gear ease out 2 gear push clutch in ease in to gear and the rest is gone hope this helps

Make sure you are pushing in the clutch far enough,or if the trans isn't synchronised you will have to learn how to double clutch when shifting (releasing the clutch pedal between gears to allow the trans and engine's output speed to synchronise).

If the clutch is depressed all the way to the floor, you shouldn't have any grinding noise. If you still do, you may need a new clutch.

Sounds like the clutch isn't fully releasing,

If your pushing it down all the way,and it's still not working, it could be abad slave cylinder ( Hydraulic) or mis adjusted linkage (mechanical)

Push clutch down completely and don't keep weight on it while not shifting.

push the clutch all the way to the floor before shifting.. if that doesn't work, you're throwout bearing might be shot.. if you replace that, might as well replace the whole clutch

try pushing the clutch in before you change gears.thats what the clutch is for.
