those cars will deff. not last 8 years. r u talking about dx10 cards in general ? i think it will be a standard in 3-5 years or wen it becomes so mainstream that pc vendors are putting them in most computers.

Well at the momement the new Stalker Chernobyl game will not run properly on the new ATI R600 512MB, it lags and doesnt show as good. Hence the reason i bought the new Gforce 8800GTX and it runs smooth.

I would say about 2years max before games require minimum and would say wait for xmas to buy the card.
I paid a fortune for mine

Well, since those are at the top of their line, those will never be the requirements. But before a game requires a card of equivelant power, maybe 4 years. Certinly won't last 8 years.
