If one of the systems gets infected, how easy, if at all, will the other os get that same virus?

It is totally impossible to infect two partitions at once with the same virus. Only one OS is live at any particular time so you can't infect both simultaneously.

When one OS is mounted the other is unmounted (inactive) so an inactive OS is totally oblivious to what is happening on the mounted partition.

if the virus infect a certain file type (DOC for example) it will infect files on both drives.

If the virus infects a certain location on the PC (c:\windows for example), then it will only go there, ignoring the other drive.

Basically, if the second OS is available, viruses will be able to infect it. But only certain viruses.

Most of the other answers here aren't accurate. The first answer is partially right - in that the virus might infect a random file, but this isn't common. If you can see the drive with the other OS, then there is no "brick wall." If the second OS is not seen, then yes wall. There is no telling where a virus goes. Some will infect specific files, others go after all files of a certain type.

Bottom line - if you get a virus on one, you'll need to make sure the second is cleaned too.

The odds are zero. There is literally a brick wall between both os systems. That is also why it is hard to see stuff on the oposite os.

Well if you do just pop in the windows cd and reinstall. If it doesn't work just buy a new hard drive. Very easy to install. If you do so and need to knwo how to install i will make a video if needed.
