I was wondering, how old ar a lot of you guys on here? I've read some really good stuff by young poeple and I've read some really bad stuff by older poeple. And vice versa.

So out of curiousity, won't you share your age!

PS You all wouldn't believe me if I told you how old I am so no asking. ;)

By the way thanks for your answers. I have an insatiable curiousity sometimes ;)

I am 35 Grace. I have posted poems for a good while now {never here yet} and am published in a few very low profile works. To the contributor Ari, age has nothing to do with poetry. The net is the same as typing on an old word processor when it comes to writing. Beauty has more substance than wisdom? Rock on brother.

I think the average age here on Y/A poetry section is 15.
I bet we are about the same age - ageless!)

I agree with you, the youth are much sharper in this modern IT & computer tech world.

Unlike older school stuck with John Keats' concept of beauty, in Endymion:

The youth opt for fun and go for Heather bell's concept:

Whereas the old school worships Shakespeare's sentiment in Love's Labors Lost, "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder"
the youth transgress it as "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder."

Remember, Youth and Beauty has since replaced Age and Wisdom as standards of virtue in this age.

EDIT: Mikeonthemoon below, Grace asked about age and poetry. Read her profile too.The question elicited above comments about age. Mine is mere elaboration on generational persuasions and influences. I have seen 13/14 year old teens composing excellent poetry here. Schools of thought have everything to do with how we evaluate poetry and these are dynamic. Most of us here do not compose but seek to help interpret different various poets' compositions. We help to unpack and provide value or alternative readings. I've not said age has got to do with such evaluation. Reader Response theories? Yes. Hope it's clearer now.

Good luck

Hey, take a look at my profile. I'm too feeble to write my age one more time. When I first went to sea with my good Uncle Sam's Navy, Moby Dick was just a minnow.

I am 23 but I never finished school so I know there are ways I can improve.
I really appreciated your advice and am just starting a writing course so that I can write to the best of my ability.

I'm fairly new here, and it seems my 32 years leave me older than the average.
