I like the pure passing style, I enjoyed watching Dan Fouts, Dan Marino, Kurt Warner, etc.... Leftwich, I thought, would be the next guy to do this, judging by college, style, and arm strength. Why has this not hapened yet ? Also, whom will be the next pure passing QB to rival Manning, whether from college or the pros. Rivers, Brohms, Jamarcus Russell, who can challenge Marinos', Favres', Mannings', Warners' records ?

As for Leftwich, there are a couple things that contribute to him not succeeding so far. First of all is I don't think that he has that much talent. He has a very strong arm, but arm strength does not make a QB great. He is not as smart of a QB as those greats that you named. And to add to that, the Jags have not been surrounding him with talent at WR. He is not a good enough QB to succeed with no talent like Tom Brady. And as far as who will be the next great. I think Carson Palmer has all the right tools to be a great QB and he has amazing weapons. And a long shot to be great one day is Matt Leinart. He doesn't have the strongest arm but he plays the game smart and he doesn't make stupid mistakes. If the Cardinals can get him some protection, he can be a great QB.

Leftwich hasnt had a full NFL season without injury, And he hasnt had a good Go-To Wide receiver since Jimmy smith left. From reports on the Jags website, Charles Sharon is progressing alot, along with the other wrs, And the new offensive coordinator is implementing passing in our offense, so i would say, Next year, The last year on Byrons contract, He is going to step up big time and have a great year.

Sadly, I think he didn't put in the work of the other guys you list. He is fat and slow and a big arm won't overcome the fact that he just takes too long to throw. Even Marino and Warner could get out of the pocket and buy a little time, Leftwich needs more than any NFL O-line can offer...
Jamarcus could make it happen, though.

Byron Leftwich does not really have any go-to-wide receiver. I do not see Reggie Williams, Matt Jones, or Ernest Wilford as a go-to-guy. Mercedes Lewis is a good tight end, but rarely is the tight end the go-to-guy.
Also, Byron Leftwich has been injured throughout his career, and that includes college. He has sustained an extensive amount of leg injuries, and I do not see him being a Jaguar after this upcoming year.

All the great qb's you mentioned have one thing in common. The ability to see the field. To find the open receiver even under pressure. It's not something you can teach you see them or you don't. It's the intangible that makes qb's or brakes them. Leftwich hasn't really shown that ability.
Leading up to the draft the one thing everyone said Russell had that ability. To always see down the field. If he does the Raiders have some great years ahead of them.

To be honest, there's so much parity between teams you may not see a dominant offense for awhile.
Leftwich's injuries are eating time from his career. He may not even start this year. Leftwich's biggest problem besides health is that his offensive line isn't dominant and he cannot avoid the rush as well as other passers.

Maybe because he does not have the wide recievers or maybe because of his injuries and possibly maybe it was not meant to be. He needs a way better recieving core. I think Jay Cutler has potential to become a pure passer. he sure showed he had an arm

I personally think that one is going to be between 3 people...
Phillip Rivers
Drew Brees
Carson Palmer
Those are going to be the ones who are pure passers in my opinion. All three men have good arms and know it, thus they trust in their arms.

He tends to panic and then he wants to run, and he is not a McNair or Culpepper and never will be. So this causes him to make too many mistakes.
