All of them are boids, a relatively primitive group of snakes, most of which have vestigial hind legs in the form of cloacal spurs and which have heat-sensing pits on their lips.

Boas are boids which give birth to live young and which share some other physiological characteristics which aren't present in pythons. Most live in the New World, but some, such as sand boas and the Dumeril's boa, live in the Old World. Boa constrictors are a Central and South American species of semi-arboreal boa. The four species of anaconda are upper-South American aquatic boas.

Pythons are boids which lay eggs, which share physiological characteristics not found in boas, and which are found entirely in the Old World, except for a possible Central American species, but this is highly debated.

All are constrictors. There is one species of Boa constrictor, one genus of anaconda, and 30+species of pythons and boas each.
