Hi,
I'm planning on buying a Linksys WRT54G at Circuit City for $49.99. I've been reading some reviews from cnet.com and notebookreview.com and it seems that it's a pretty decent router. Two quick questions about the WRT54G:
1. I have a cable modem and cable internet connection. If I use my laptop wirelessly from about 40 feet from the router, will I experience cable-modem-like speed?
and
2. How difficult is the setup on a scale from 1-10? I'm not an expert on these kinds of things, but I'm also not a complete dummy. Thanks in advance.

Also, what is the approximate range for the WRT54G for which I'll still maintain a good and stable connection?

1. You should have very little performace difference at that range as long as there is not alot of RF interference in your home.
2. 1 being the easiest it should be about a 3.

Again, wireless range will differ from home to home. It depends on how many walls, wireless phones, microwaves and other rf emmiting devices are between the router and wireless computer.
