Prior to WW II the Germans thought that Aryans were the ancestors of all modern europeans. Was the svastica an aryan cross?

much older! this symbol goes back to the neoltihic in eastern europe to the Vinca culture in romania, hugary, and bulgaria. about 8000 years ago.

Native Americans used the swastika long before Europeans came to the hemisphere, and it was also widely used throughout Asia. So no, it wasn't an Aryan cross (and there is no such thing as an Aryan race). In addition the Nazi swastika was tilted to that the arms rotate counter-clockwise, which for many centuries has been the direction of evil.

no. the swastika is a much older symbol. Its origins are still unclear but some assume its existence dating from pre-historic times. Most have determined that the swastika is an Hindu symbol defining the circle of life continually going around. It can be interpreted clockwise (life) or counterclockwise (death). the latter interpretation being the gestapo's own illustration.
