Not salad, but it's true with celery
It basically means that you lose more calories digesting and eating the food, then the food has in it. So your body could burn 5 calories eating a stick of celery that only has 2 calories in it.

nope. the dressing and topics on the salad has a lot of calories.
however, for celery, you burn more calories eating the celery than the amount of calories the celery actually has. which results as negative calories.

WHAT?
Dont know what you're asksing but I'll say this; Salads can be high in calories when you layer it with those salad dressings and add something like bacon to it. But so what? Salads should be about eating healthy rather than weight loss because weight loss is achieved thru excersize.

I dont know about salad, but i've heard that is true w/ cucumbers.
Because theoretically you are consuming more calories by the motions of chewing and bring the cucumber to your mouth etc. than is already in the cucumber. Go figure.

it depends on what you put on your salad...
a dill pickle has about 5 calories, but you would burn about 10 calories just chewing it to eat it.....
that is how you can burn more calories than the food has just by eating it.

well i know my sister ate salads for a while and lost tons of weight. she did have grilled chicken with it. she ate fish also. so yeah you can burn more calories than what you get from eating a salad

It's a myth.
Seriously... it takes RUNNING a mile to burn 100 calories. You can't burn up your calories in just digestion.

No, but it's true for celery. You burn more calories chewing the celery than are in the actual celery.
