I have heard Timberwood a lot. It is the name of the middle school my sis went to. Also the name of a bank, etc. But it is not really a word is it? It doesn't mean anything by itself. I like it though - Timberwood - sounds impressive and a good name for a camp.

No but it sounds pretty. If it's the name of a thing like a town, park or camp then pretty much anything goes, right? If it's a descriptive proper noun then it doesn't actually have to mean anything. What do Paris, London or Toyko mean? Aren't they just the names of cities?

I think Timberwood is a great name for the camp, it rolls of the tongue and it's evocative. I can smell the trees just thinking about it.

I've heard it before, but I would be a little hard-pressed to give a dictionary definition. In fact, dictionary.com only provides a reference to Timberwood Park in Texas. However, a quick search for the word via Yahoo! gives over 121,000 hits, and Google gives over 205,000.

"Timber" means wood, especially in the form of lumber. To my mind, "timberwood" would actually be a rawer form of lumber than what you can pick up at a lumberyard.

Hope this helps.
