Avoiding what you can't do anything about seems like a good idea. I think people have done this throughout history.

Granted that there are things we can do something about, but it takes years and years, lots of people, lots of money, etc. People usually have to be in a condition where their basic needs are met to start dealing with this kind of thing.

Take your example of homelessness, and here I mean the truly homeless, not the fake homeless who make a business of it. There are things that can be done, and you know those things will help: building shelters, hiring counselors, coordinating with businesses. But are you ready to jump into that project now? And what about the things you've already jumped into? Don't they deserve your attention?

I don't know, but it seems like the title, "Age of Avoidance" is a bit much.
