I am only a junior in high school, but I am really confused about the path taht I should take to make it easier to become a pharmacist. I don't know what classes I should start taking, what are all the steps to become a pharacist, and what am I to expect? in my junior year I am taking 5 AP classes, but now I heard that taking AP classes won't count as college classes if I am to become a pharmacist. Is this true? I had all my steps planned out for just high school, but now I feel like I'm wasting a lot of time by taking alot of classes that will not count later on in college. can someone please help me? and i would also like to know if Latin is a required class to take to become a pharmacist?

you should start praying... pharmacy is NOT easy. lots and lots of chemistry. i don't really know all the details because i'm not a pharmacy kinda person!

but it is possible and it sounds like you're on the right track by taking accelerated courses. perhaps you can go to a university's website and see if they have a pharmacy track you can follow and read about. a lot of majors and preprofessional tracks have the same general education requirements. figure out your educational strengths and weaknesses... or see a counselor. they can really shed light to a lot of uncertanties.

you're still very young to decide on what you want to do for the rest of your life so perhaps the general education portion (two years, be it an A.A. or what have you) will be a good opportunity for you to get the feel of the courses and whether or not this is a good career path for you.

either way good luck to you! and remember, if you decide you hate it, you're never stuck. there's something perfect out there for everyone.

My best Friend is in pharmacy school. She goes to University of Maryland Pharm. I kow for a fact what she did because we went to the same high school and same college. She had lots of fun in high school. Took honors classes that were required by the high school. Senior year she did half school, half college program, where she would 1 college class, instead of like 3 high school classes. THen she took her SATs and did allright (1150 (i think) Went to University of MAryland Undergrad. Did two years of college took her PCAT and got accepted into Maryland Pharm. She is almost done now.
