Does anyone think that Nickelodeon has lost their touch over the years?

Not that it really matters. but this question is to the Old school Nickeloden Fans during the late 80`s and through 90`s. I know by now all of us are adults and many of us would claim that we don`t watch nickelodeon , but we all have, either children, nieces or nephews, god children that watch shows like sponge bob etc on nickelodeon. or now it is just called "Nick". do any of u remember shows like, Real Monsters, Rockos Modern Life, The adventues of Pete&Pete, Clarissa explains it all, My Brother and Me, Doug, Ren&Stimpy, Salute your shorts, Hey Dude, The secret world of Alex Max, and Wild and Crazy Kids, All That! ,Are u afraid of the dark ,etc? I`ve even noticed that the kids of today are not really even watching Nickelodeon, They are more into the Disney Channel. so what does anyone think happen to Nickelodeon over the years, have their show become more cheesier? give me some of your thoughts.

Yeah, I feel like an old person saying this but, cartoons aren't what they used to be. I liked Real Monsters, Ren and Stimpy, Hey Dude, Salute your Shorts, and All That. I didn't care much for The Alex Max show or Clarissa though. I thought those were pretty lame. Most of the shows nowadays aren't creative enough, and can't hold my interest (although I do like Spongebob). Do you ever think we feel like this because we are adults now? Maybe we would have enjoyed these shows if we were watching them while we were younger, but that's just a thought.

i used to be obsessed! they had muppet babies and garfield and remember when they played loony tunes? omg and on new years they kept nickelodeon on til midnight! woo HOO!!! i think the cartoons/non animated awesomeness of our day were able to reach not just us kids but our parents could sit down and watch shows like the rugrats (all the nicktoons) and there were adult jokes in there too! alot of the inuendos and other things i never understood as a kid i got to know when i re watched some of those and those cartoons to me are timeless and i'll just say that i dont care how old i am i will not be embarrassed to watch ren and stimpy or all of the ones you put up because they are phenominal and i remember all of them and look forward to youtubing them, or buying the dvds!!

whats really lame is that if they had kept the old nickelodeon programming their ratings would have stayed high because like i said i would have still been watching haha. and i think a lot of kids now like those old shows and when given a peek of what used to be they are like "what? why dont they show this stuff anymore" right down to the old nick jr shows. they were great! and now they have weird stuff that i dont think teaches kids anything. just crap! they are lame as lame can get.

i think they need a nickelodeon classic who's with me?

I agree 100%! I miss the game shows the most. Who can forget Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nick Arcade, Double Dare, Figure It Out, and What Would You Do? You can watch these on Nick GaS, but you can't be on them anymore. I always wanted to be a Green Monkey on Legends of the Hidden Temple, but they cancelled the show before I was 7. TV hasn't been the same since the 90s.

i dont think its nick. i think its tv as a whole. the shows had to be more entertaining back when there wasnt as many channels. i think in the 80's we maybe had 40 to 50 channels on cable. also mtv played music videos, not 10 hours of the real world everyday. most people didnt even have cable til the early 90's anyway.its weird because the videogames graphics were all crappy back then, but the games were a lot funner. i think in general everybody has just ran out of ideas. that includes everything from tv, movies,music, and fashion.

actually, now that i think about it, ur right. every1 now (well my age) is into disney channel or mtv. even tho im only like 11 i still watched and miss those shows u mentioned in da l8 90s cuz i was born in '95... their shows have not become cheesier but theyve lost some of the greatest shows on tv like the rugrats, rocko, real monsters, and wild and crazy kids. (wasnt doug on disney channel? i dont really remember) i still watch original shows they kept on there like spongebob (sometimes!) but some of the new eps they have are kinda retarded and, when u tink bout it, perverted. but neways, yeah i think they did kinda lose their touch...

Their shows definitely have gotten cheesy. I like those older shows so much better! They were funny and not as obnoxious. Whenever I check that channel I just change it right away because I don't like the shows they come out with now.
They suck and those are my thoughts on the matter.

Oh yea, remember the "Littl' Bits?" That was such a cute cartoon and they never play it any more.

ahhh real monsters was such a classic im 15 and i remember that program its such a good memory reminds me when i used to sit in front room with my mum sleeping on the couch and me watching it....all those programs u listed are on late at about 3 am and up lol on some channel anyways but yeah its lost its touch but here in the uk people still watch my family does.

I have completley agree with you. It used to be good, but just all of a sudden, it gets all these new shows that are basically falirures. I've noticed more kids watch disney channel now.

I miss all those shows. Somebody should start a petition to get those shows back on. It should be a channel dedicated to ONLY the old shows. Some of those shows are on YouTube though.

man i agree with u on this one nickelodoen, disney channel, and cartoon network were the channels i used to love watching when i was younger bc all the shows were all interesting to watch. now these channels got stupid shows that would put us asleep in a quickness especially the disney channel. every show they got on the disney channel got the kids on there that r trying to be singers for crying out loud.
