I am a life long Dodgers fan,but my #1 player has always been Barry Bonds. He was my favorite player before any of the steroid issues were made public. Why must people continue to ridicule him? He's 42 years old and is putting up numbers that most major league players would only dream of having on there stat sheet. Barry will break the record, and down the road A-Rod will shatter it..Lets not forget Barry's stolen bases, hits, rbi's, mvp's, gold gloves, on base %, and walks.Since the scandals of steroids have comeout Barry has only gotten better..Explain that.......GO DODGERS...AND GO BARRY

BARRY BONDS IS THE GREATEST! I AGREE! And it's not STEROIDS, it's LINSEED OIL, sheesh! Or HGH if you want the scientific term.
Anyways screw the HATERS! Barry is going to have the record and you all can go cry like the little babies you are!
GO BARRY! SEMPER FI, LAVADOG! OOH RAH!

The problem is that he is 42 years old and is putting up numbers that most major league players would only dream of having on their stat sheet. While it isn't impossible for him to be naturally this good, the odds aren't that good - most 42 year old players are retired, or are in the minor leagues, or are not putting up stellar numbers that are the envy of others. The standard progression of a career is that a young player shows promise, grows better over the years, and then goes into decline. A player doesn't tend to put up the best numbers of their career so late in their career. Given the steroid scandals, and given that Barry has been named as a user, it seems far more likely that his stellar numbers have been / are being given an artificial boost.
I'm not sure what you are trying to prove by saying that he has only gotten better since the steroids scandals broke. Just because a scandal breaks doesn't mean that a player using steroids will immediately stop using them. In fact, it might encourage a player to use them more in order to make their mark on the game and then retire before the scandal blows up in their face. After all, it's less likely that they will go after a retired player than a current player, and once your name is in the record book it isn't that easy to remove it.
It's a shame when the boast, "my athlete is better than your athlete", would seem to be better stated, "my athlete's pharmacist is better than your athlete's pharmacist".

How in the hell can you be a real Dodgers fan if your favorite player is on the rival Giants?
Anyways, Bonds is an amazing hitter, with amazing hand eye coordination, but you cannot honestly tell me that his HR numbers would be as high if he did not take steroids. About your SB argument most of those came before he ballooned to his size today. Look at him now w/o his steroids, his body is breaking down like it should have a couple years ago. While he is having a good season, he is the shell of the player he used to be.

and btw barry only gets better cause he is the best player in the league right now hands down. Nobody can say that right now and once he retires it will probably be a-rod...but right now bonds is the best

You're looking down the wrong street for your answer . What steroids did was allowed an aging male body , to put on muscle , remain strong and heal more quickly. Steroids allowed Bonds to keep his muscle ,play more games , get more ABs and have the opportunity to generate bigger numbers .
In the absence of steroids he doesn't get those opportunities to generate those numbers

Look at this number :
Maximum distance Barry can throw a baseball : 20 feet.
This guys arm is gone and it's all because he's sacrificed his defense for offense. How sad is that?

How can you root for both the Dodgers and Barry Bonds? Do you have multiple personalities who hate each other or something?

I guess the question here is: explain why his #'s have gotten better since the steroid scandal. OK... he hits more because of steroids. Wow, that was easy...
