It seems the more an activist is passionate about a certain issue the less one is able to use reason in their arguments. Some seem unable to acknowledge any information or opinion that lies outside of their agenda?
Why do you think this is?

Toots, I doubt it has anything to do with reason. Activists are as political as any President, Prime Minister, or Dictator. They want what they want, and will lie, steal, and cheat to get it. Activists are radical, and very similar in their thinking, like a terrorist.
I am apposed to abortion, for example, but I would never bomb a clinic, killing doctors, nurses, and patients, who are performing an abortion.
Activists are bombs waiting to be set off, and they DON'T help our country. They divide us, stress us out, and sometimes kill us, to get what they want.

Truth be told: Ego. They're self-image is built around the issue. Any challenge to the ideas is an attack on them. They can't tell the difference. Facts cannot broach the walls of self-esteem. I raise the banner of patriotism often, but even those who use that word can confuse patriotism and their love of country for themselves, treating those who are also patriotic but disagree as if they are enemies.
Many people who say they are democrats and republicans do this as if no one notices their political bigotry against an entire party, nearly half the country.
It will unite when patriots speak up when people, even in their own party, act seditiously or in a bigoted way.
Until then, these people speak for the silent, the ones who won't vote for whatever excuse they have given themselves.

Well you've not put anything down to bolster the point you are making so I'll put one down.
Fox news make BIG claims to be fair and balanced but it is in fact an “activist” type of group with strong ties to the Republican party. It promotes a Republican agenda bolstered with bias reporting with little or no regard to facts. Take one reporters repeated attempts to claim that American troops were responsible for a massacre in Malmedy when in truth they were the victims.

People who are active generally have a slanted view of things .
Its like mommy having lots of boyfriends yet not being a whore .
Its like daddy beating mommy and her defending him .
People are seriously messed up and no matter what proof you provide on any issue they still resort to the same old name calling and saying the source is not credible .
The Cia Has just been confirmed by their own admission to have been conducting many operations that so called liberal conspiracy theorists of the 60's and 70's claimed and conservatives of the day labeled them pot heads hippies and tin foil hat wearing communists .
Just like today as some liberals bring the truth out ,the conservative media and people tend to just ignore the truth and continue on .
It amazes me how dense stubborn and thick headed people really are .

Activitist are by pure definition emotional. The emotion far ou weighs facts.
Look at the anti war \ Bush comments suggesting "Bush Lied." There is no evidence he lied in fact the evidence suggests that he and everyone else including Saddams own people thought he had WMD's...sure they were wrong but there is no proof of a lie.

It's a certain mind set - if the facts don't agree with your agenda, simply ignore or change the facts.
Polarize. It simply pits the people who ignore or spin the facts against those that do a little research.

It depends on the individual activists. Some activists are aware of things that most people are not. Activists have also done their part in making reforms in American society such as the Civil Rights movement.

Liberals have plenty of time to go around the country and protest.
Because they don't hold jobs.
Has anyone ever known a liberal that worked for a living?
No way.

just cause a person speaks their mind does not make them an activist....
an activist goes out of their way to express their views to as many people as possible and to promote their cause.
some people are just plain ignorant of the facts and refuse to hear or accept the facts.
some people are just fargin stupid...........
some people are naive......
some are dumb............
most aren't any of the above.....
